Dunsany Chase 2014
The Dunsany Chase
The Dunsany Chase is nearly upon us again! This year’s Chase will run off on Sunday 7 December this year. The Chase is a valuable source of yearly income for us. The Chase is now in its 22nd year. A committee of dedicated volunteers have been meeting regularly to ensure this year’s Chase is as good as all those that have gone before.
We appeal again for your help this year. Your help is especially required to make the post Chase auction a success.
WE NEED YOUR HELP IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS PLEASE….
-
Provide items for our hampers {wines, all other types of booze!, jams, chutneys, suitable hamper foods, chocolates, puddings, cakes, Christmas candles, etc… ~ any items you think would be good for inclusion in a hamper}. Items now being accepted.
-
Last year the ‘special’ hampers sold very well ~ we’d like to make similar up again this year ~ child’s hamper/ new baby hamper/ pet hamper/ drinks hamper/ toiletries hamper ~ any new, novel ideas very welcome.
-
Homemade cakes (iced & un-iced), puddings and jams sell fabulously well. Last year we had a record number of Christmas cakes, thank you.
-
If you have any hamper baskets from previous hampers, that you no longer need, we’d be delighted to receive them.
-
If you have any unwanted, unused gifts {toiletry sets/jewellery sets/lamps/household items, etc…}, these sell very well.
-
If through contacts/work, you can get a signed picture/book/CD, etc…these make wonderful auction items.
-
If you paint/sketch/make anything (wooden items/hand-knits/crochet, etc…) ~ these items always sell well at the auction.
-
If you know a business/someone who would like to advertise their business through the Chase’s Facebook page, please ask them to contact us here at the school.
-
If you can offer a service that would be sought after and would like offer that for auction, please let us know.

Halloween 2014
Halloween 2014 had a little everything to offer…
From the Junior Room, we had ‘Oíche Shamhna’ followed by their Halloween Fashion Parade. Mr Donnelly’s crew showed off their dancing skills with the Monster Mash. Eat your heart out Rocky Horror Show!
The Senior Room went with some Science, some dancing, singing and dramatic sketches, all MC’ed by Cian & Jack of Rang a 6.
St. John’s Ambulance Visit
St. John’s Ambulance
Recently Brenda Power and her daughter Sara, visited us at the school to talk about the great work of St. John’s Ambulance. Brenda demonstrated many simple first aid procedures and talked about the importance of having training in first aid. As a result of such convincing talks, 7 members of the Senior Room have gone on to join this voluntary group in the past few weeks! We’ll all be in safe hands!
Junior Room “Little Red Riding Hood”
Here the Junior Room perform their short musical version of Little Red Riding Hood. Also here you’ll see the pupils in their Halloween ‘crowns’!
