Dunsany Chase 2014

                   The Dunsany Chase

The Dunsany Chase is nearly upon us again! This year’s Chase will run off on Sunday 7 December this year. The Chase is a valuable source of yearly income for us. The Chase is now in its 22nd year. A committee of dedicated volunteers have been meeting regularly to ensure this year’s Chase is as good as all those that have gone before.

We appeal again for your help this year. Your help is especially required to make the post Chase auction a success.

WE NEED YOUR HELP IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS PLEASE….

  • Provide items for our hampers {wines, all other types of booze!, jams, chutneys, suitable hamper foods, chocolates, puddings, cakes, Christmas candles, etc… ~ any items you think would be good for inclusion in a hamper}. Items now being accepted.

  • Last year the ‘special’ hampers sold very well ~ we’d like to make similar up again this year ~ child’s hamper/ new baby hamper/ pet hamper/ drinks hamper/ toiletries hamper ~ any new, novel ideas very welcome.

  • Homemade cakes (iced & un-iced), puddings and jams sell fabulously well. Last year we had a record number of Christmas cakes, thank you.

  • If you have any hamper baskets from previous hampers, that you no longer need, we’d be delighted to receive them.

  • If you have any unwanted, unused gifts {toiletry sets/jewellery sets/lamps/household items, etc…}, these sell very well.

  • If through contacts/work, you can get a signed picture/book/CD, etc…these make wonderful auction items.

  • If you paint/sketch/make anything (wooden items/hand-knits/crochet, etc…) ~ these items always sell well at the auction.

  • If you know a business/someone who would like to advertise their business through the Chase’s Facebook page, please ask them to contact us here at the school.

  • If you can offer a service that would be sought after and would like offer that for auction, please let us know.

Bob-a-Job in aid of Spina Bifida

Sixth Class girls present a cheque for €795 to Peg, Maurice & Rosemary Lynch, Dunsany for the Louth/Meath Branch of the Spina Bifida Association.  Rosemary is a past pupil of the school.  The money was raised through carol singing by the senior pupils in Navan Shopping Centre @ Christmas and by  all the pupils themselves through their Bob-a-Week held in December.  Many thanks to all who contributed to this worthy cause.   Also pictured is parish priest Fr. T. Toner.

Fund-raising

Charity Fund-raising

The school has a great track record when it comes to charity fundraising.  Last year the school contributed to the Shoe-box Appeal and ran a soccer marathon for the Haiti earthquake victims. This Christmas our chosen charity is…..

St. Vincent de Paul

Bob-a-Job Week during the last week of December was very well supported throughout the school. As was our carol-singing in Navan Shopping Centre on Sunday 19 December. Many of our pupils from 4th-6th class turned up and sang their hearts out for for this very worthy charity.

A whopping €862.55 was raised in total. The money has been forwarded to the Dunshaughlin Branch of the St. Vincent de Paul, with a formal presentation to follow at the school in the New Year.

Well done to all involved and thank you to all who supported in any way.

The Dunsany Chase

The Chase went off brilliantly well today, Sunday 30 January. There was a great turn out – well over 100 riders and many more supporters. The school staff wish to thank the hard-working, very competent committee, all those from the parish who helped out on the day, the land owners for so graciously allowing us access to their land, the parents who gave generously to both raffle & auction and all the pupils who worked hard to keep the Chase on our tongues and in mind over the past few weeks.  We acknowledge the huge input of our neighbours and friends from Kilmessan N.S. and thank them for their hard work in making the Chase such a success. Proceeds are in aid of Dunsany & Kilmessan National Schools and local Senior Citizens Groups.

€5174.30 was raised through this year\’s Chase. Thank you to all.
